Death Note
What would you do if you stumbled upon a mysterious black notebook with the words, “Death Note” inscribed across the front? Would you think that it was a practical joke being pulled by one of your classmates? Or would you take it with you to test it out, see if it really will work? Light Yagami thought otherwise, until his curiosity got the better of him. Opening the Death Note, he reads that there are rules that must be followed in order for the note to function properly. The notebook instructs the owner that if any human’s name is written on the pages of the Death Note, they will die. Skeptical, Light writes the name of a criminal. Before long, the criminal dies of a heart attack. He finally deems this supernatural notebook to be real, especially after meeting the original owner of the notebook, the shinigami (God of Death) named Ryuk. He now calls himself “the God of the New World,” passing judgment on those that he deems not worthy, evil, or thinks they will get in his way. Thus begins his cycle of “cleansing” Japan. Death Note is an awesome manga to read if you are into psychological thrillers and the supernatural. Come down to the library and check them out!
