Create your own soap in this 4 hour class that teaches the basics of Cold Process Soap Making. Instructor Claire Grasse has been a soap maker both professionally and as a hobbyist for ten years. Barnes and Noble and the Harker Heights Public Library will host a “Get Your Library Card” day! Drop in for a day of scheduled events including face painting, a “Talk Like a Pirate” storytime at 11:00 a.m., open mic opportunities throughout the day, local author book signings at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., a banned books open mic at 4:00 p.m., and the chance to sign up for a Harker Heights Public Library card on the spot! Twenty four children and teenagers who participated in the “Spectacular Stories” anthology of children and teen poems, stories, and illustrations will be available at 2:00 p.m. for a book signing. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of items at Barnes and Noble will go to support the Friends of the Harker Heights Public Library. Call 254-953-5492 for more informaiton.
