And the Texas Bluebonnet Award goes to…

The Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) reading program was created to encourage children to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination, and identify their favorite books. Pulitzer prizes announced

The Pulitzer Prizes for letters were announced this week. Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout won the Fiction Prize, the prize for history went to The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family by Annette Gordon-Reed and Jon Meacham's biography of Andrew Jackson American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House won the prize for biography (and is available in the library).

The nomination lists for the Hugo Award (science fiction), the Orange Prize for Fiction (given to a female writer), and the Man Booker International Prize (given for an author's contribution to English-language fiction) are out.
